Bidoction.com is one of the numerous new penny auction sites that are taking the world of online shopping by storm. Launching earlier this year, Bidoction features items such as electronics, cookware, Blu-ray disc movies, fashion items, and gift cards from any retailer that you want, ranging from $25 to $100 in value. Since the site is very new, there have only been few instances where big-ticket items were placed up for grabs, so you might want to settle on gunning for the smaller prizes.
Bids come in at 50 to 75 cents, and are sold in packs of 50 to 1000 bids. 50 bids cost only $37.50, while 1000 bids are priced at $750. Each bid placed on an item raises its price by a few cents (this varies from auction to auction), while its timer also increases by 10- to 15-second increments. As always, the last bidder before the timer reaches zero wins the auction.
The site is currently exclusive only to US residents, and items are shipped for only $3.25 for the smaller $25 gift cards, while gift cards of higher value are shipped for $6.95. This is because the more expensive cards could be Visa cards, which require special shipping fees. From what we’ve read on the web, it seems that Bidoction’s shipping rate is one of the fastest. If that’s true, then we definitely won’t mind paying for shipping.
Surprisingly though, Bidoction.com has become a haven of power-bidders that ‘happily’ bid at everything they see, discouraging the newer crop of penny auction bidders who are still learning the ropes. Other ‘minuses’ include site glitches and errors – issues which are not really surprising given how the site is so new.
