BidRodeo.com is one of the more established penny auctions sites in the web today, and offers impressive prizes that come in a wide range of varieties. Prizes include ubiquitous Apple products, gaming consoles, notebooks, home appliances, gift cards for popular retail outlets, and many more. Variety isn’t a problem on the site, and it doesn’t hurt either that the number of live auctions on the site never dips below 20.
BidRodeo uses a regular auction format, in that each bid placed increases both the item’s price and timer. In the case of BIdRodeo, the price increment and time interval vary from auction to auction, though the timer is guaranteed never to increase by more than 2 minutes.
Bids are priced at $1.00 each, but you can save up to 50% if you purchase bid packs. If your friends register at the site after referring them, you get 5 free bids for each “recruit”. Note that at $1.00 each, BidRodeo’s bids are among the most expensive out there.
Unlike other established penny auctions however, BidRodeo still manages to provide excellent customer service and support to their members, even going as far as to give refunds in the event of an auction problem or the like. BidRodeo also makes it a point to send a clear message that the site is legit. In each auction, members (and even guests) can see the item’s bid history, which includes information on who they’re bidding against.
Despite these conveniences, winning on BidRodeo is a totally different story. The site is infamous for being really hard to win in, not because of shills or bots, but because of the number of new members that register each day.
If you’re new to penny auctions, we suggest that you observe the site first, see how things work, and give it a try with a few bids. Start with the smaller items such as the gift cards, which don’t draw that much traffic.
